This painting was from an original panoramic view of Chicago sky line in 1991 from the Michigan side. I began this in 1992 and after so many weeks of painting lighted windows in buildings I sat it down for years. Nineteen years later Feb. 22, 2011 it was completed. I had some difficulty with the shoreline but after advise from a fellow artist and teacher, Jerry Miller, I was able to get that straightened out. I remember when I started it the sky was so overcasted the painting was dark. I decided in 2011 to make pockets of more darkness with speckles of stars. It made the whole project more interesting and with all the lights in the sky and the lights in the city the obvious name "Chicago Night Lights" was appropriate.
