What a wonderful place to take a vacation. When I planned this vacation in the late 80’s with my friend it was during hurricane season. Coming in from Miami Airport I was stuck in torrential rains. It wasn’t long before I began to wonder what the heck I was thinking. By the time we got to Islamorada, the sun was out and the water was amazing! I never knew the water would be so many different colors.
When my friend and I got to the beach nearby where we were staying we took in the scenes and saw a couple sitting under the palm tree. There was a rusty pole and no birds flying in the air.
I think the best part of being an artist is you can add or subtract whatever you want. Rusty old poles and people are easy to not place in the painting.
I still dream about the beaches of Islamorada and long for the chance to take some of the time I had there back. Regrets, I have a few but the memory of all the places I went and dear friends I shared time with will always be in my heart forever.
